Located on the outskirts of Tsyrkuny settlement in Kharkov region, the plot lies in the bottomland area near a small river. We have developed
preliminary and definitive design of the house pursuing our main goal which was to combine the traditional morphology intrinsic of local
houses with modern trends. The main volume of the house stretches along the street with a minor setback from the red line, which is
enough to make room for a canopy over the two cars that belong to the owner and an open parking space for the guests. The main
premises of the house look south-west, facing the longer part of the courtyard which abuts upon the river.
The house is supposed to become home for two families – the parents and their grown-up daughter with her husband. Therefore, one the
design tasks was to organize their comfortable co-existence. To this end, we have placed the parents’ room and the guest room on
the first floor, while the young family’s bedroom is located on the second floor. The kitchen, the spacious living room with a high
ceiling due to the peculiar three-pitched roof, and the adjacent inner terrace are common places where all the inhabitants of the house
can meet. The bedroom upstairs has its own terrace located on top of the parents’ room. The house can boast of an unusual high
roof and differently-oriented windows of various shapes that overlook the surrounding hills, the bottomland and the willow trees.
All these features provide a good basis for comfortable interior.
